The Music Director oversees and administers the various music ministries for church functions such as normally scheduled services and seasonal or holiday programs. He may also be called upon to support church ministry through events such as weddings and funerals. One of the Special events is a quarterly Praise Cafe, which is an evening of live music featuring Amherst Baptist's own Worship Team along with special guest musicians or worship bands.
 
The purpose of our Worship Music Ministry is to exalt and worship God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, through the work and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. More than music, worship is an expression of our hearts to God. A church service is a time not only to listen to sermons, but to participate in praise and respond to God's leading.
 
Psalm 95:1-2 says…"Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song."
 
Music can have the ability to reach and influence our inner selves. It is also something about which nearly everyone has an opinion! The music at Amherst Baptist Church is encouraging and energizing, and at times, reflective, as we attempt to be contemporary without forgetting traditional music.
